It wasn't my first time, but you did witness my total terror and discomfort! I believe I actually hid behind you and you did all the talking! I did force myself to learn how to canvas by going out a lot with more experienced people. But really it's minivan that has changed everything. I have seen how the script is so helpful. Keeping track is SO much easier now, even finding the houses. I have not done much canvassing this cycle, but I've started signing up for shifts!
A helpful, cheery intro to canvassing. You make it sound fun and easy. I canvassed in my teens and 20s. It's inspiring to read these door to door efforts still exists and that at least some people still open the door in these days of locked gates and electronic home security systems, not to mention the huge push toward electronic communication.
Good point. That IS the surprising thing about canvassing. I never stopped being surprised that people would open their doors to me and were happy to talk. I have even had rather lengthy conversations with people over their "ring" devices.
Thanks for your service, Shifra!
This is great, Shifra! Thank you for doing this.
I'm proud that I knew you as a nervous, first (?) time canvasser on Staten Island in 2018. Look at you now!

You make it feel very doable with straightforward descriptions of what happens & practical advice. Thanks Shifra.
Thanks! It is simple! People worry that they don't know enough but the script is completely adequate.
